COVID-19: Plateau distributes palliatives to 39,993 households

PLATEAU State Government, yesterday, commenced the distribution of palliatives to the poorest of the poor in 17 local government areas as part of efforts to cushion the economic impact of COVID-19.
Commissioner for Information and Communications, Dan Manjang, who spoke to newsmen in Jos while distributing the food items, said the gesture was to give succour to specific categories of people in the society.
He said the items distributed were donated to the state government by CoalitionAgainst COVID, CACOVID.
He said the exercise marked the beginning of the distribution of palliatives to the 17 local government areas.
Manjangadded that 39,993 households would benefit.
“Each household would get one cartoon of pasta, two cartoons of noodles, a bag of salt, a bag of semovita and a bag of sugar each,” he said.
The commissioner on behalf of the state government also thanked Dangote Group and other groups for the items donated.
Deputy Chairman of Shendam Local Government Area, Williams Titlong, who spoke to our correspondent, said the items received would be distributed to the poorest of the poor, adding that the gesture was to give succour to specific categories of people in the society.
