The serene atmosphere being enjoyed by the residents of Enugu metropolis has been fouled again by the activities of devious men believed to be secret cult members.
At the last count, about three men have been gunned down and it is not certain if more will not go down.
Nigerian Pilot Saturday gathered that two young men were shot and killed by rival cultists at different locations at Akwuke. Police has confirmed the incident.
It was also gathered that another one was shot in broad day light at Umuonu, near Garriki area on Wednesday. Both incidents took place at Enugu South Local Government Area of Enugu State.
An eyewitness told Nigerian Pilot that she saw the corpse of the boy that was shot rolling in a pool of his blood shouting for help that never came.
Not too long ago, people suspected to be rival cultists shot eight people at different locations in Enugu. This forced the police to embark on sensitisation campaigns at strategic places and schools to warn people against getting involved in cultism.
The Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Enugu State Command, Mr. Ebere Amaraizu confirmed the incident and said they are working on the report.
“We have received the report and are working on it as we are close towards unmasking them. We are trying to find out the motives, however we regret the unfortunate incident and advice youth to shun cultism and other vices,” Amaraizu admonishes.
