Governor Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo of Gombe state has challenged the Federal University, Kashere (FUK), Gombe state on the need to research into the revenue potentials of agriculture, youth and entrepreneurship developments with the aim of curtailing the resurgent Kalare youths in the state.
Governor Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo spoke on Tuesday when the Vice Chancellor and management of the University paid him a ‘thank you visit’ in view of his government’s support to the activities of the institution following worries over the return of the activities of Yan Kalare political thug group.
The Governor also urged the University to critically look into the sectors of Gombe state at regular intervals and advise appropriately on the best standards of practice.
On the request for water and roads in the university campus, Governor Dankwambo told the institution’s management to liaise with the Ministries of Water Resources and Works and come out with workable plans.
The new Vice Chancellor of FUK, Gombe, Professor Mohammed Alhassan Gani said the University had established some research centres for agriculture and service as well as maritime studies.
He said they had equally outlined series of lectures for awareness creation of whole lot of issues with Governor Hassan Dankwambo as one of the resource persons.
He among other things solicited for more land allocation for further expansion of the university complex and the drive towards ensuring the institution attained world standard.
“Your commitment to the University is a demonstration of concern for education in the state. Thank you for the approval of 30 hectres of land, and our recent convocation,” Professor Gani stated.
