The senatorial candidate of the Labour Party and Senator-Elect for Delta central senatorial district, Barr Ovie Omo-Agege was Tuesday presented with Certificate of Return by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.
It was presented to him by the INEC’s national commissioner in charge of South South, Dr Mohammed Mustapha Lecky in a brief ceremony at INEC Headquarters in Abuja.
The Court of Appeal in Benin, had on 19th December 2015, declared Omo-Agege of the Labour Party as the winner of the Delta Central Senatorial election, after nullifying the election of former Senator Ighoyota Amori.
It also ordered INEC to nullify and void the Certificate of Return it issued to Chief Ighoyota Amori of the People’s Democratic Party as winner of the Delta Central Senatorial District election and issue Ovie Omo-Agege with a new Certificate of Return, as the duly elected Senator representing Delta Central Senatorial District of Delta state.
Godwin Anaughe, Director, Communications and Strategy, Ovie Omo-Agege Campaign Organisation, in a statement said “God has once again shamed them. This is a divine project and no evil plot can stop it now.
“Let it be known to all that there are no conflicts or judicial absurdities in the judgment of the Appeal Court with respect to the Delta Central senatorial election. Neither has the judgement generated any political crisis and legislative chaos as claimed by the Delta State People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in their petition”.
He continued “This judgment and the order contained in it are very clear to discerning minds; and it is the final world on this election. Today, INEC has executed the lawful final order of the court and there is no going back”.
