Director General, National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, Brig.-Gen. Johnson Olawumi, has applauded corps members posted to the North East parts of the country for their exemplary patriotism.
Olawumi gave the commendation at the Nigeria Army School of Military Engineers, NASMEs, at the weekend in Makurdi at the closing ceremony of a one week preparatory course for NYSC state coordinators, saying no corps member currently serving was forced to serve in the North East.
According to reports, Olawumi said that the nation was proud of their services and sacrifices but assured that they were constantly under the surveillance of the security operatives in the country to ensure their safety.
Also speaking at the event, the state coordinator of the scheme in Benue, Mrs Esther Atamenwan, appealed to communities in the state to show hospitality to incoming corps members to the state, adding that about 5000 new corps members were expected to serve in the state for the 2015 Batch B.
