Nigerians in the Diaspora under the aegis of Buhari Friends Organisation Network, have urged their fellow countrymen to give maximum support to the President-elect, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, to enable him tackle Nigeria’s myriad of problems.
The group further said that Nigerians have suffered for a long time under the present administration and the only way that they can get the change they yearned for is to give unalloyed and unqualified support, cooperation and loyalty to the incoming administration.
The group also said that it has formed a think tank focus group of professionals and experts, that would provide advice to government on policy issues to make Nigeria better.
In a statement signed by the coordinator of the group, Mr. Charles Sylvester, and made available to newsmen yesterday , the group assured Nigerians that Buhari will not let them down.
“We are quite confident that with Gen. Mohammadu Buhari’s antecedents, he will not disappoint Nigerians. We believe in his ability to turn the country around, especially in stemming the virus called corruption, which has been the bane of the country’s developmental efforts in the past.”
The statement added, “The group we have formed is made up of professionals from every field of human endeavour and we will regularly provide position papers on various issues affecting the county.”
The group deplored the reported attempts by the outgoing administration to frustrate the transition programme and urged the Jonathan administration to ensure that there is a smooth and rancour-free transition programme.
It said, “If the reports of the uncooperative attitude of the present administration to the transition programme is anything to go by, we urge all those involved to make available to the incoming administration the necessary assistance needed for a smooth start.”
