As party vows to sanction members
A coalition of All Progressives Congress, APC youth groups will today carry out a peaceful protest in Bauchi against two senators over alleged acts of disloyalty to the national and state leadership of the party.
Also, the APC, Bauchi State chapter, has vowed to sanction any member found to have sabotaged either the state or national leadership of the party.
The party said this has become necessary because of many of disloyalty in recent time by both elected and appointed officers, stressing that the most painful was the disloyalty displayed by some members of the National Assembly.
Speaking soon after a meeting with members of the Buhari Coalition on Peace and Support for Justice that plans to organise a peaceful protest today to register their dissatisfaction with the Senators representing Bauchi South and Bauchi Central, Ali Wakili and Hamman Misau over alleged anti-Buhari activities, the state chairman, Alhaji Uba Ahmed Nana, said the party has had enough of disrespectful acts from these members and would not hesitate to wield the rod.
The chairman said, “The party is not happy with their action but we intend to organise a meeting with the two senators in trying to resolve the differences and proper solution to it. The party has the right to discipline any elected member who disrespects the party and will not hesitate to do so.
“The planned demonstration by some aggrieved groups this weekend is essentially because of the untoward attitude of our elected representatives. The protest is part of the democratic processes and is what the electorate want done to remind the senators that they are representing not themselves but the people and as such their wishes must be obeyed, especially if that agrees with the stand of the party in whose platform they got elected.
He said the leadership of the party in the state has made efforts to dissuade the youths from protesting but to no avail, they would continue to appeal to both the youths and the senators to work in harmony with the demands of the people.
Alhaji Uba Nana appealed to the aggrieved group and other APC faithful in the state to shield their swords and bow to party supremacy by allowing the leadership of the party in the state to take the necessary steps to address the problem.
Also speaking, chairman of the Buhari coalition group, Alhaji Ali Sa’idu, expressed gratitude to the leadership of the party in the state for wading into the issue and assured that the group is a peace loving one that will always abide by party supremacy.
He said the group comprises of other 80 political groups and associations planned to stage a peaceful demonstration in the state capital against what it perceive as the Senators stand that contradicts the interest of the party, saying they would not allow any of its representatives to disrespect Mr. President in his effort to reposition Nigeria.
“The party has intervene but if the senators repent from their action and take the necessary corrections, we are ready to continue supporting them but if they refuse to accept our wish and continue we will not hesitate to continue with our process of recalling them, period!” he added.
