The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rep. Yakubu Dogara, on Monday, appointed a former member of the assembly, Mr Jerry Manwe as his Chief of Staff.

The appointment is contained in a letter, NASS/SPK/MGT/VOL.I/002 by Dogara dated June 15 and addressed to the Clerk of the National Assembly.

The appointment is effective immediately.

The letter stated that Manwe, born on June 26, 1958 in Karim Lamido, Taraba, was first elected a member of the House of Representatives in 1991 and subsequently in 2007 and 2011.

Manwe is the immediate past Chairman of the House Committee on Electoral Matters and chaired the House Committees on Finance and Economic Planning, Interior and Communications.

“Manwe was also a Commissioner of Housing and Urban Development in Taraba State between1999 and 2001, member, Christian Pilgrim Board, 2001 to 2003, and Chairman, National Commission for Colleges of Education, 2005 to 2007.

“Manwe holds Certificate in Accounting, Higher National Diploma in Business Management and Bachelor of Technology (in view),’’ the letter stated.

It further said he attended Lau Primary School from 1966 to 1973, Government Secondary School, Jalingo, 1974 to 1979, Federal Polytechnic Mubi, 1984 to 1986 and Federal University of Technology Yola.

The letter said Manwe started his working career as an Accountant with Mubi Burnt Bricks from 1985 to 1989.
