The All Progressives Congress, APC, has given the governor of Niger State, Alhaji Abubakar Sani Bello the go ahead not to spare any member of the party who has soiled its hands by stealing the government’s money.
In a statement yesterday in Minna by the state Publicity Secretary of the party, Jonathan Vatsa stated that for the state to get it right, the governor must toe the line of General Muhammadu Buhari’s anti-corruption stand and axe any officials found wanting within his government.
“Niger state has been looted under the PDP government for the past 8 years to stupor, even if it was yesterday that our dear governor appointed any of our members and he is found wanting the next day, such an official should be axed,” the statement admonished.
The statement pointed out that for the state to get it right, self centered government officials who do not see their appointment as service but a way to enrich themselves should be quickly shown the way out.
Vatsa said that the APC fought tooth and nail to upstage the PDP elements who were traditionally known for looting and for the party’s government to be seen living above board of what it accused PDP of, deviants within its government who refused to abide by the transparent nature of the governor Alhaji must be booted out.
“Our party is not a party where people go to government to enrich themselves all for fatal political pursuit. If you loot to come and contest under our party you will be treated exactly how looters should be treated. We are confident that our dear governor is vigilant to watch all appointed officials,” he said.
According to the statement, “this does not mean people should not be given their due. In fact those who deny others their deals are same people who engage in aberrations in their financial dealing and the governor should not consider any political implication before sacking corrupt elements.
“We are sounding this warning because we don’t want our party members appointed to think that because they are members of APC they will be spared in the governor’s anti-corruptions agenda. In fact our party members should in the real sense be used as examples for others like civil servants. We therefore urge the governor to sack any party man found wanting no matter the duration of his or her appointments before committing such offence.”
The party stated that they are confident that the governor would not tolerate corruption and leakages and therefore urged party members to know that APC will not conduct affairs of government like PDP hence the party will not engage in what it fought against.
