Olukoyi of Ikoyi land in Isokan Local Government Area of the state, Oba Yisau Bantale Otunla-Kodaolu I, has warned youths in the community against turning the celebration of the annual carnival to a crisis event.
Oba Otunla gave this warning in a statement he issued and made available to Nigerian Pilot Saturday after having a meeting with Olukoyi in council in his palace.
According to Olukoyi, “youths in my domain should not embark on any carnival that will result to violence. Instead, they should be celebrating their carnival in front of their various houses as this would prevent them from fomenting trouble.”
The traditional ruler emphasised further that, “Although, my community, Ikoyi is identify with complete peace and tranquillity and I don’t want anything that may tamper with the existing peace in the area, that is why I am warning the youths to desist from any act capable of causing mayhem”.
“Any youth that wants to celebrate carnival should do so in their various compounds and not in the public street as they used to do before as this development will assist all and sundry in order to avert crisis.”
In their separate responses on behalf of Olukoyi in Council, the Oosa, Oniju, Aro and Asalu of Ikoyi land, Chief Yekini Oyewumi, Chief Lasisi Ishola Sanni, Chief Muili Oladimeji Oladapo and Chief Abeeb Akinola respectively, they assured the traditional ruler that they were going to sensitise their subjects in their various domain, saying Ikoyi land would continue to experience peace and harmony.
