The Democratic People’s Congress (DPC), on Thursday said it would field candidates in the upcoming governorship polls in Bayelsa and Kogi billed for Nov. 21, 2015 and Dec. 5, 2015.
National Chairman of the party, Rev. Olusegun Peters, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos on telephone, that it had credible aspirants for the elections.
“We are fully participating in both Bayelsa and Kogi elections and we are not merging with any political party to win those elections; we are standing on our own.
“We do not have any business with any political party to be merging with them.
“Already, we have serious-minded aspirants, people with good antecedents that the electorate will want to vote for,’’ he said.
According to Peters, DPC is a new and improved platform where people want to use to project their ambition of being politicians.
He revealed that, as part of its agenda, DPC would launch an empowerment program for the people before the election.
He said that the party would not wait to be in power before doing things to better the lives of the masses.
NAN reports that DPC is a new political party which was registered by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on July 8.
With the registration of DPC, Nigeria now has 29 political parties.
