A combined team of security operatives from the Department of State
Services, DSS, and Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Wednesday in Ikoyi, Lagos, arrested Kayode Are, a retired colonel and former Director-General, DSS about 5:52pm.
Investigations gathered by THEWILL showed that his arrest might not be unconnected with the $2 billion security budget allegedly mismanaged by Sambo Dasuki, former President Goodluck Jonathan’s National Security Adviser and his team.
Are was arrested at his Ikoyi residence barely 24 hours after Attahiru
Bafarawa, a former governor of Sokoto State; Raymond Dokpesi, chairman emeritus of Daar Communications, African Independent Television (AIT), and Dasuki were arrested.
Are is currently the chairman of Governor Ibikunle Amosun’s N3 billion Ogun State Security Trust Fund.
Are confirmed his arrest to THEWILL correspondent during a phone conversation but declined that he was involved in the $2 billion arms fraud.
“They (security operatives) are still here; they are arresting me now.
I am busy packing my loads, I am being subjected to the excesses of the power that be. I am facing my problem alone. Thank you, thank you,” he said.
