dssThere are strong indications that the Department of State Security, DSS may soon invite the Oba of Lagos, Rilwan Akiolu, to appear before its operatives over the alleged hate speech he made against the Igbo in the buildup to last Saturday’s governorship election.
A senior security officer told Nigerian Pilot at the weekend that the DSS had concluded plans to summon the monarch for interrogation at its headquarters in Abuja.
According to the source, official correspondence will be send to Akiolu immediately after the Governorship and State Assembly Elections.
Last Thursday, the DSS said that it was taking appropriate action on Oba Akiolu’s death threat to the Igbo if they voted against the All Progressives Congress, APC governorship candidate, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode. Ambode was yesterday declared winner of the election.
Answering questions at the National Information Centre in Abuja, DSS spokesman, Ms Marylyn Ogar, said the agency was handling the matter.
Ogar had said: “We are taking appropriate action. The Service had once again, warned all Nigerians not to fan the embers of discord within the country. If the presidential election had come and gone successfully, we wouldn’t want people to begin to whip up sentiments unnecessarily. So we are handling it.”
