Nigeria’s Adaora Elonu is among the All-Star Five shortlisted for their outstanding individual performance at the just concluded 25th AfroBasket Women Championship in Yaounde, Cameroon.
Elonu is joined by Senegal shooting guard Aya Traore. The five players were rewarded with the Most Valuable Player award, presented by Tissot.
Traore made two three-pointers on her way to a team-high 17 points and also grabbed 3 rebounds as Senegal held off Cameroon 81-66 to claim their 11th continental title.
The 32-year-old headlined the All-Star Five which also included Cameroon’s Ramses Lonlack, Geraldine Robert of Gabon and Deolinda Ngulela of Mozambique.
As AfroBasket Women 2015 champions, Senegal qualified for the 2016 Rio Olympics, while Cameroon and Nigeria’s D’Tigress booked their places in the 2016 FIBA Women’s Olympic Qualifying Tournament (WOQT).
