Eagles are ready for 2019 AFCON – Pascal

Former Super Eagles defender and current team Coordinator, Patrick Pascal has said that the senior national team is ready to take on any African country at next month’s 2019 African Nations Cup slated for Egypt.

Pascal exuded confidence in the present Eagles squad adding that their qualification for 2018 World Cup as well as the 2019 African Nations Cup was not a fluke.

The former Shooting Stars of Ibadan defender while speaking with Nigerian Pilot Sports said, “We have a team now that can play against any team at the Nations Cup, AFCON and come out winner. Our qualification for 2018 World Cup and 2019 African Nations Cup is not a fluke; we beat the best in the continent to pick the two tickets.

“Fortunately for Nigeria, the team and the coach have been together for a while and that strengthen the bond and understanding between the gaffer and players.”

“Most of the players are starters in their respective European clubs and have had experience playing against Africans during the qualification series.”

The 2019 African Nations Cup kicks off on Friday June 21 with the hosts, Egypt facing Zimbabwe .

Nigeria’s Super Eagle will on Saturday June 22 commence their AFCON campaign against debutant, Burundi at 6:00 pm.

Nigeria is in group B alongside, Burundi, Madagascar and Guinea.
