The Ebonyi House of Assembly on Friday approved N75.8 billion as the state’s budget estimate for 2015.

Gov. Dave Umahi had re-presented the budget estimate to the assembly on Monday, days after withdrawing the estimate sent by his predecessor in December 2014.

The earlier budget was not considered by the former assembly due to the protracted feud between it and the executive arm.

The 2015 budget, christened, ‘budget of repositioning’, provides N33 billion as recurrent expenditure and N38 billion as capital expenditure.

Assembly man Frank Onwe, the Chairman, House Committee on Appropriation, said the committee interacted with relevant government agencies to agree on the figure.

Meanwhile, Speaker Francis Nwifuru commended the committee members for speedily reviewing the bill.

Nwifuru also expressed delight over the friendly disposition of other members of the assembly, which, he said, facilitated the speedy passage of the appropriation bill.

Earlier, Assembly man Anthony Nwegede of the Labour Party was adopted as the Minority Whip, following the party’s request to the house.
