Ebonyi State Governor, David Umahi has inaugurated committee on youths and women empowerments, charging the committee to look into employment opportunities going on in many federal establishments and ensure that Ebonyi indigenes were represented.
Inaugurating the committee at Exco chambers government house Abakaliki, Umahi noted that he had set aside N130million for empowerment of youths across the political wards in the state, but regretted that since he made the approval, modalities on how the funds will be disbursed have not been created.
He said:”Employment is going on secretly on a daily basis in Abuja and elsewhere, it is your duty to ensure that Ebonyi people are employed in those places.
“A sub-committee of this committee can look into the tomatoes programme in the state. The sub-committee can also look into the poultry programme. The sub-committee can also look into our rice production”.
He said most of the beneficiaries would be put into vocational training and urged Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Bernard Odoh to bring all the Ebonyi indigenes hawking outside the state together and integrate them into the empowerment programmes.
Umahi called for total support of the committee to ensure success.
