Evangelical Church Winning All, ECWA, Gospel Church Tudun Nupawa, Kaduna South local government, Kaduna State yesterday donated various food stuffs to host Muslim community where the church is situated.
Similarly, a Muslim society-the Nasrul-lahi-l-Fatih Society, NASFAT, also extended succour Internally Displaced Persons, IDPs from the dreaded Boko Haram insurgents in North East region by donating food stuffs and clothing worth N500,000.
Speaking during the donation of the items to the beneficiaries to the host community, the ECWA senior pastor of the church, Reverend Yunusa Nmadu Jnr. said the essence of the gesture was to further fostering religious coexistence, and a way of assisting the needy within the community in the spirit of the holy month of Ramadan.
Items donated to the beneficiaries comprising of persons both male and Female from the Panteka market union and the Tudun Nupawa community which host the church include rice, beans, maize, indomie, Millet among others.
According to Reverend Nmadu said, “The gesture by the church to provide food items to members of the host community during Ramadan is to demonstrate the Biblical injunction that we should love our neighbours as ourselves.”
Speaking further, he said that it is important for the church to positively impart the lives of the people of the community; otherwise the church has no business to be there.
“We know that there are people in the community that require help in this month of Ramadan, which is why we have brought out quite a number of them to be given the food items. Apart from that, we have also embarked on this to show the world that peace is possible and that we are all peace makers by demonstrating it in practical terms,” he said.
Nmadu also commended the reformation in the community, saying that “Tudun-Wada/Tudun-Nupawa which used to be in the news for the wrong reasons has since begun on a new slate devoid of violence.
Responding on behalf of the beneficiaries, the Sarkin Dutse Alhaji Shaibu Balarebe, who commended the magnanimity of the ECWA church by the consistency of assisting his people during the Ramadan fast in the past two years, also disclosed that he inherited the protection of the church by his late father.
He said, he will not relent in protecting all within his domain, and claimed that sin is responsible for the insecurity in the country and urged all and sundry to turn to God in true repentance.
Most of the recipients of the food items, who could not hide their joy, thanked the church for the gesture towards them and their families.
In the same vein, Chairman of NASFAT, Kaduna chapter, Engineer Muhideen Alimi Yusuf while donating the items to the displaced persons at Danhono 1, New Millennium city layout area of the state, said it carried out the program to alleviate and improve the standard of living of the Internally Displaced Persons, IDPs.
Chairman of the IDPs in the area, Malam Dahiru Saidu Mubi while receiving the items said it has over 2,000 IDPs and complaining bitterly about the deplorable condition where they have no shelter, food to eat.
He said the gesture is first of it kind to the IDPs in the area while he called on other well to do in the society to emulate the kind gesture of NASFAT.
Earlier, the Missioner of NASFAT, Imam Maroof Muh’dRaji, described the situation which led to their displacement as a “test” while calling on the well to do in the society to come to the aid of the persons to earn Allah’s bounty reward.
“Share what you have with the needy for you to get the reward of Allah. We need to help the needy and the needy needs to help themselves too. They should be patient and live peacefully with people in the community,” Imam MuhdRaji stated.
Items distributed include food stuffs, beverages, clothings and shoes among others.
