Federal High Court sitting in Benin City will decide on Friday, 1st July 2016 if the embattled former National Chairman of the PDP, Alhaji Modu Sheriff and the Independent National Electoral Commission can proceed to conduct another primary election in Edo State under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party for the 2016 September 10thElection.
In the suit number FHC/B/CS/109/2016 before the court the PDP in the state led by Chief Dan Orbih is also praying that Hon Johnson Agbonayinma, Hon Matthew Iduoriyekemwen and the Independent National Electoral Commission be stopped from participating in the fresh primary.
The Ali Modu Sheriff faction of the party, had declared yesterday that it was going on with what it called, ‘governorship primaries’ , of the party in the state, insisting that Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu emerged through a caretaker committee that is not backed by the constitution of the PDP.
Reacting to the development, Mr Chris Nehikhare, the State Publicity Scribe has said that the Edo PDP has held its primary and Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu is the nominated gubernatorial candidate for the September 10, 2016 governorship election for the state.
