Ahead of the All Progressives Congress, APC’s primary, a non political and socio cultural interest group, N’ Edo gheria has admonished the party’s delegates to stand by what is right just as he said citizens participation is key to democracy.
The state coordinator, Agene Patrick, in a statement made available to newsmen in Benin City also said the various actors in the electoral process must allow for a free and fair conduct of the primaries.
“It is true that Edo state is on the verge of making history once more and we as stakeholders in the Edo dream of our founding fathers, wish to urge delegates in the forthcoming governorship primary in the APC to decide along that philosophy.
“Yes, all the aspirants in the APC seeking for your votes are eminently qualified and have the capacity to deliver, but we are more resolute that experience, maturity, loyalty with competence and above all someone who has shown humility in his relationship with the people must be considered.
“We also want to advise the national secretariat of the party, that purposeful attempt must be made to ensure that the primarily is free, fair and credible. History must be made by those who believe that Nigeria must indeed be better and the slogan of change must be seen to be working.
“If the fellers from the camps of those contesting are anything to go by, then nothing short of a credible election will be accepted and delegates must be allowed to decide on who will lead them. Money bag politicians must be rejected.
“It is our believe that the man who has provided even the Comrade Governor all the peace and loyalty to perform the much he has been able to do, if giving the opportunity to fly the APC governorship flag, will not only hit the ground running, but restore our core cultural heritage as one indivisible Edo people.”
