Campaign team of the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Edo State, Pastor OsagieIze-Iyamu was yesterday attacked at Jattu, near Auchi, in Etsako West Local Government, by suspected All Progressives Congress, APC, youths who destroyed two vehicles in the process.

The two vehicles destroyed, a Mercedes Benz C-Class and a Toyota Sienna, were on the convoy of the PDP candidate’s campaign team which had held a rally at the area.
The rally had barely ended when the governorship candidate’s convoy moved out but ran into an ambush by the two branded APC vehicles filled with youths who were chanting anti-PDP slogans.
To avoid confrontation with PDP supporters, the convoy hastily drove out of the scene while occupants of the APC vehicles stood their ground.
As at press time, it was not certain if any arrest had been made as the incident was promptly reported to the Nigerian Police Area Command in Auchi by the PDP candidate, in the company of the state chairman, Chief Dan Orbih.
However, unconfirmed sources say that as news of the incident spread, some APC supporters at night went to attack the residence of Mr Emma Musa, the PDP Ward 2 coordinator in the same locality and set it on fire.
A bewildered Mr Musa while addressing newsmen said he was happy that he was not at home when the incident took place, but regretted that he lost some personal effects like his plasma TV sets, refrigerators, beds and clothes, as well as cash.
He also said that his younger brother, Orbo Johnbull Musa, who was fast asleep when the apartment was attacked and suffered mild burns on his two legs, was in good health.
Contacted, Mr Imasuen who is the Divisional Crime Officer in charge of the police station at Iyuku, a walk from the residence that was set ablaze, ordered that the matter be properly recorded pending investigations.
