Controversy surrounding the whereabouts of the educational certificates of the Edo APC governorship candidate, Mr. Godwin Obaseki has taken a new twist as the Edo State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has picked holes in the Senior School Certificate.
State chairman of the party, Chief Dan Orbih had earlier stirred the controversy two weeks ago at a rally, by making public the affidavit Obaseki swore to, at the Federal High Court Abuja claiming loss of his certificates in Lagos.
But a few days later, Obaseki at an interactive session with civil society in Benin City said, he got a call from his brother informing him of the presence of the missing certificates in the US City of New York.
Thereafter Obaseki who said he graduated from the secondary school in 1973 and entered the University of Ibadan also said he graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Classics in 1976, and promised to make the certificates public whenever he received them.
However, displaying a photocopy of the West African Senior School Certificate Examinations, SSCE, result, allegedly owned by Obaseki, weekend, Chief Orbih alleged that the APC candidate may have falsified it to gain admission into the University of Ibadan.
He said,”Here with me is the school certificate he used to gain admission to the University of Ibadan. In this result, he did not pass Economics, but he calls himself head of economic team. In the same certificate, he made P7 in English and failed Mathematics”.
“He claimed he entered university the year he left secondary school. How could he have gained admission with such result? The result was not even good enough for any form of preliminary studies”.
