Tragedy hit the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Edo State, at the weekend, as a youth leader, Uduafemhe Ibrahim Otaru from Edo North was killed while on a trip to receive Governor Adams Oshiomhole’s anointed successor, Godwin Obaseki, who was touring the area.
The youth leader from Etsako East Local Government Area hailed from ward 7, Afu Okpilla, and was popularly known as ‘speaker worldwide’. Two other occupants of the Mazda saloon car were severely injured in the accident.
According to an occupant of the vehicle, Napoleon Ediawe, one of the front tyres pulled off as it was in motion which made it to somersault. He said Otaru died immediately as he was thrown out of the car.
He also said the unfortunate incident happened on their way to Agenebode to receive Obaseki, the APC governorship aspirant in this year’s election.
Ediawe, who sustained serious injuries on all parts of his body and is fast recuperating at the Catholic Hospital, Agenebode, lamented the inability of Mr. Obaseki to personally visit them at the hospital or visit the family of the deceased.
He said though Obaseki sent money for the burial of the late youth leader, “he never cared to find out how we are faring since the accident occurred.”
