The Coalition of ex-militant leaders from the Niger Delta region, generally known as the National Coalition of Niger Delta Ex-Agitators, NCNDE-A, has congratulated the Edo State governor-elect, Godwin Obaseki who emerged victorious at the polls held in the state recently.
Speaking through its National President, Israel Akpodoro, who described Obaseki’s victory as divine said the people of Edo state have shown to the world that no amount of subterfuge can change the peoples’ mind against good governance as delivered in the state by the Comrade Adams Oshiomhole-led All Progressives Congress, APC, in the state over the past eight years.
Obaseki, according Akpodoro was deservedly voted into office on the platter of hard work of the duo of governor Oshiomhole and Obaseki noting that the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP was dead finally in the ‘heart beat state.’
Deriding the PDP, the Coalition stated that Governor Oshiomhole has finally “interred the coffin of the PDP and the notorious godfathers who feasted on the misfortunes of Edo people for eight years leaving the state and her people in deplorably miserable condition.”
The Coalition further stated that President Muhammadu Buhari, was the Messiah Nigerians have been waiting for saying his integrity remains unalloyed in service delivery to the Nigerian people as reflected in the transparent manner the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC conducted the Edo election without any hitch, in a free, fair and credible manner saying; it was a clear departure from the past when the previous administration wrote results days before election for its party.
Stressing further, Akpodoro said President Buhari has brought standard, discipline and moral rectitude into governance in his service delivery to the people of Nigeria as he called on the people of Edo state to shun the negative narratives of those he called political merchants and vampires in the state who are doing everything possible to incite violence to avenge their woeful performance at the polls.
With the mandate given to in-coming governor by the people, he (Obaseki) should ensure he carries the people along in his masses-oriented policies and programs adding that the PDP should bite the humble pie by not only congratulating Obaseki but join hands with him to move the state forward, Akpodoro said.
