The Economic and Financial Crime Commission, EFCC, has dragged the former Chairman Zamfara State Universal Basic Education Board Hon. Murtala Adamu Jangebe to Federal High Court Gusau for alleged misappropriation of funds that runs into billions of naira.
The anti-graft has slammed a 10-count charge including bribery, misappropriation and serious allegations on the former UBE boss whose tenure spans from 2011 to 2015 when he was formally eased out of office.
Presenting the matter before the court, the solicitor to respondent (EFCC) Muhammad Sadisu Abubakar SAN told the court that, out of the 10 charges, possession of N32 m in cash in addition to allegation that he collected bribe from one of the SUBEB contractors, contrary to section 36 (1) of the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
In its second sitting on Friday, the Presiding Judge, Justice Zainab B. Abubakar, granted him bail with three condition which includes fine of N5 million, submission of his international passport to the registrar of the Court and surety from a senior civil servant, who must be from grade level 14 and above. The case was adjourned till 9- November 2015 for trail.
