Immediate past governor of Adamawa State, Mr. Bala James Ngillari has stated that he was not declared wanted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.
Ngillari retuned to Yola from Dubai on Sunday after undergoing medical checkup.
Speaking to newsmen in Yola shortly after his arrival, the former governor said that the speculation was a cheap blackmail perpetrated by unfocused elements.
“As far I am concerned I did not receive any invitation from EFCC as alleged. In fact, I don’t have any case before the commission,” Ngilari declared.
He explained that the reason why he was absent at the inauguration of new governor, Muhammadu Bindo, was that he travelled abroad for medical checkup.
“Mr. Boni Haruna, the then governor of Adamawa during our inauguration in 2007 was absent. It was his deputy; Bello Tukur handed over to Governor Murtala Nyako while I was his deputy. So, contrary to what is being speculated I did not run away; I went for medical checkup,” Ngilari stated
He clearly stated that as far as he was concerned he did not steal even a spoon from government property during his tenure as governor.
Ngilari, who on arrival visited Federal Medical Centre, Yola, sympathised with the victims of the recent bomb blast.
He advised government to cooperate with security operatives, vigilante groups and local hunters to assist in controlling the insecurity in the state.
