Super Eagles caretaker coach, Samson Siasia has served foreign-based professionals invited ahead of 2017 Nations Cup clash against Egypt with March 21 deadline.
Siasia who disclosed this to Nigerian Pilot Sports equally maintained that the oversea-based players are all expected to hit camp before the team would head to Kaduna to perfect strategies that will eventually galvanize needed victory over Pharaohs of Egypt in the first leg encounter.
According to him, “All we are working on is how to get victory against our opponent and qualify for the Nations Cup. The players in camp are working very hard. We don’t need to wait till those outside the country come.
“Any player at home who is a professional is as good as doing what his counterpart abroad could do. Again, the issue of weather is another consideration. Some of them coming from Europe may find it difficult coping with the hot weather.”
Nigeria U23 team, the Dream Team VI, defeated the home-based Super Eagles 2-0 in a test match played in Abuja on Wednesday to avenge a similar loss they suffered the previous day.
The Super Eagles are preparing for an AFCON double-header against Egypt later this month, while the U23s will take on Rio Olympics hosts Brazil in a friendly on March 24.
Enyimba forward Joseph Osadiaye opened scoring for the Olympic team, before Usman Mohammed doubled the lead from the penalty spot in a shortened test game.
On Tuesday, Bright Onyedikachi and Godwin Obaje scored for the Eagles.
