Federal Government yesterday declared Thursday and Friday this week as public holidays to mark this year’s Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Interior, Abubakar Magaji, disclosed this in a statement signed by the ministry’s director of press, Yusuf Isiaka Alhaji and made available to Nigerian Pilot in Abuja.
Magaji on behalf of the federal government enjoined all Muslim faithful and Nigerians from all walks of life to extend the religious benefits of the festival, which include love, peace, empathy and tolerance for the overall development of the nation.
The permanent secretary also called on Nigerians to support the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari in his renewed vigour and sustained effort towards building a peaceful, united and virile nation.
He further admonished all Nigerians both at home and in the Diaspora to use the festive occasion to pray for peace, progress and unity across the nation, and wished all Nigerians a happy and joyous Sallah celebration.
