…Appeal to politicians to bury the hatchets
Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Ayodele Fayose, has commended lateMilitary leader, General Sanni Abacha, for the creation of EkitiState 20 years ago and other past leaders for the development of thestate as Nigeria clocks 56 years old.
Fayose, in his commendation on the past leaders both militaryadministrators and civilian governors of Col. Mohammed Usman,Commodore Atanda Yusuf, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, Niyi Adebayo and SegunOni, in building the state to this enviable height through theirleaderships.
Ekiti State was created on October 1, 1996 alongside Bayelsa, Gombe, Nasarawa, Ebonyi and Zamfara States.
In his address to the various stakeholders at the Oluyemi Kayodestadium in Ado-Ekiti, yesterday, after the “Anniversary Walk” whichkicked off from Mathew Street in Ado Ekiti, Governor Fayose commendedthe military dictator and Ekiti founding fathers for actualizing thedream for the state’s creation of the state.
“Let me commend Gen. Abacha for creating the state and I also thankour founding fathers for their vision. Though, I didn’t participatein the struggle, but I am a beneficiary and many children andgovernors yet unborn will also benefit.
“Politics aside, let me commend all the military and duly electedgovernors of the past for their contributions, because they havecontributed their own quota within the available resources to lay afoundation, for without foundation there could be nothing to buildupon.
“Ekiti has scored many firsts within the two years I came on board.Ekiti recorded in budget transparency. It came first in 2016 NECOsand these came at the most auspicious time when Ekiti is 20. Ourdesire now sis to buckle up and work harder for more service deliveryfor the good of you and I.
“The present economic recession in our country is not pleasurable, itis not interesting at all. It is a sad news to hear that a dollar isnow being exchanged for N500.
“Whatever our political, religious and interests are, we must put oureyes on the ball called Ekiti for our tomorrow to be better thanthis”, he said.
Fayose promised that the flyover project, Ikere Ekiti dualisationproject, the new Oja Oba market and other projects in all the 16 localgovernments , including the proposed High Court complex and newgovernor’s office will be completed before his departure in 2018.
“I want to tell you that I won’t abandon any project. All the projectsI have started will be completed before my departure”, Fayose assured.
