Senator representing Anambra Central Senatorial Zone, Senator Uche Ekwunife has called on Muslim community to use the period of Eid-el-Fitr to cultivate peace and unity of Nigeria.
In her Sallah message, Senator Ekwunife urged Muslims to use the solemnity of this celebration to peacefully co-exist with their Christian brothers and sisters to further deepen the peace process in the building of a virile country where peace and unity are held sacrosanct.
Senator Ekwunife used the period of Sallah celebration to congratulate the Muslims all over the country especially those within her senatorial zone and sued for peace in some parts of the North East of the country and prayed that the issue of insurgency will be a thing of the past.
In a related development, Senator Ekwunife also eulogised Mrs. Chinyere Asika describing her as an epitome of the struggle for the liberation of Nigerian women.
“She was in her time the voice of the deprived women folk and contributed immensely to the liberty that is being enjoyed today by Nigerian women. Even though she has gone the way of mortals, her footprints will ever remain indelible in the sands of time”
“As we celebrate this life that was well spent to the glory of God, I urge the children, the family members and benefactors of our departed icon to take solace in the fact that Chief Mrs. Chinyere Asika came, saw and conquered”.
