Kaduna State governor, Malam Nasir el-Rufai has assured the 13 new commissioners that he would not interfere in the affairs of the ministries.
Speaking while swearing in the new commissioners at the Government House in Kaduna, the governor told them (commissioners) not to favour anybody from his family members, friends and associates adding that anyone who wants contract should follow due process.
He said none of the commissioners lobbied for the position as they were appointed based on merits. He said they were appointed based on their experience and competence and charged them to deliver good performance for the benefit of the people of the state.
El-Rufai charged the commissioners to be honest and just in discharging their responsibilities because according to him, they are representing President Muhammadu Buhari in the state.
He said the way and manner they work and treat the people must tally with the running All Progressives Congress, APC party’s slogan ‘Change.’
According to him, they must represent change in their activities so as to be different from previous Peoples Democratic Party, PDP governments.
“You must represent change with the way you work, dress and being transparent to the people. Our people came out en-masse to vote for this change after 16 years of PDP governments so you must be seen to be doing things differently.
“Remember your oath of office, you swore with Quran and Bible and remember we are all representing President Muhammadu Buhari.
“Therefore, you must be honest and just in discharging your duties. Listen to the voice of the majority and always tell the truth, do your job well and we will support you to succeed in your ministries,” he said.
The governor warned them to desist from any act of discrimination based on religion or tribe, saying “you are not representing your local governments, tribes or religion.”
El-Rufai also swore in about 10 permanent secretaries.
