Honourable Gbenga Elegbeleye who was relieved of his duties as the Director General of the National Sports Commission, NSC, last week has disclosed he got to know of the development via the social media.
Elegbeleye said he was surprised that he was not called to make a case for himself and receive the sack order directly, but rather got to know through Network News and on social media.
“I am just hearing over network news that I have been relieved of my job. I did not even know. But no cause alarm. All is well at list I have done well with the little time I spent there. I know where it’s coming from but there is no problem,” he stated.
The former NSC DG insists he is not unduly worried by the development and says ‘no cause for alarm’ for him as a human being.
Alhassan Yakmut, who, until his latest appointment, was the NSC’s director of grassroots sports development department, was appointed to take charge of the commission in an acting capacity.
The sack of the former deputy chairman House Committee on Sports came after a long face-off involving him and the minister of sports, Dr Tammy Danagogo.
