The convoy of the Emir of Katsina, Alhaji Abdulmumini Kabir Usman has been involved in an accident along Lokoja-Abuja road.
The accident took place when the convoy was returning from Kwara state, where the Emir attended the convocation ceremony of the University of Ilorin.
According to a palace source, the tyre of one of the vehicles in the convoy burst while in motion, leading to somersault in the process.
It was learnt the Emir was not in the convoy, as he had allowed the convoy to move ahead of him while he flew in a commercial airline back to Katsina state.
Nigerian Pilot learnt that a traditional leader who is head of the Emir’s security, locally known as the Sarkin Dogarai, Alhaji Hamisu Mamman, was killed in the incident.
It was gathered that two others who were security guards, the Galadiman Dogarai, (Assistant Security Officer), Ibrahim Isyaku, and Sarkin Lema (Head of Emir’s umbrella carriers), Shehu Ibrahim, sustained serious injuries.
Both Sarkin Dogarai and Sarkin Lema are currently on admission at Katsina Federal Medical Centre, where they are receiving medical attention.
Meanwhile, the Chief Imam of Katsina, Malam Liman Lawal yesterday led a funeral prayer for the Sarkin Dogarai, Alhaji Hamisu Mamman at the Emir’s palace.
The funeral prayer was attended by the Emir of Katsina, his kingmakers, district heads and important dignitaries from all over the state.
