Ekiti State governor, Mr. Ayodele Fayose, has inaugurated new caretaker chairmen for the 16 council areas in the state, urging them to replicate his ‘stomach infrastructure’ programme at the grassroots levels.
Fayose also called on the chairmen and council members to give his administration total loyalty as they go about the business of their council areas.
Last week, the state House of Assembly had accepted Governor Fayose’s request to dissolve the councils and reconstitute a new one having spent the mandatory six months as stipulated by the constitution.
A letter dated June 5 and addressed to the Speaker, Rt. Hon Kola Oluwawole, requested the assembly to reconstitute the caretaker committees in line with the State Local Government Transition law No 4 of 2002.
The deputy governor of Ekiti State, Dr Kolapo Olusola, who represented Governor Ayo Fayose, at the ceremony called on the caretaker chairmen to bring their wealth of experiences to bear in the running of the local government councils of the state in order to hasten rapid development at the grassroots levels.
He said “you are appointed based on your proven integrity both in private and public offices. I want you to bring your experience to bear in the service of the people by engineering rapid transformation and development at the grassroots, nothing than the best is expected of you. It is hoped that you will not disappoint the state.”
He urged the council bosses to be diligent and transparent in the conduct of their functions.
