Speaker of the Enugu State House of Assembly, Hon Edward Uchenna Ubosi, has expressed the hope that the Enugu State 2016 budget appropriation of over N85 billion, would be passed into law before the end of January, 2016.
Ubosi made this known at an inter-denomination church service organised by the leadership of the House to seek the face of God for the 2016 legislative year.
The speaker who thanked his colleagues for the support and camaraderie he enjoined from his colleagues in the past seven months said the House having sought the face of God is now repositioned to face their legislative challenges.
He disclosed that there are already some bills and motions on their tables waiting for attention and consideration.
He explained that what was holding the budget estimate from being passed into law was because the MDAs are not yet through with budget defence with the House standing committees.
Ubosi therefore explained that as soon as the MDAs finish the budget defence, the appropriation bill that has scaled the Second Reading would be passed by the end of the month.
He also explained that it was important that the budget be passed as soon as possible to enable Gov. Ugwuanyi work towards deliver service to the people as he promised during his campaign rallies.
The priest who presided over the church service, Rev. Fr. Johnbosco Oko, advised the legislators and other elected leaders to serve the people with humility so as to gain the blessings of God.
Oko said that the, “entire life is about service,” and urged the House members to be prepared for service to humanity which in turn would open doors to God’s blessings and abundance.
The priest made intercessory prayers for the state governor, the speaker, principal officers of the House and the supporting staff.
