Enugu State indigenes resident in Houston, Texas, United States, under the aegis of Enugu Remains United Patriotic Transparent, ERUPT, has congratulated the governor-elect of Enugu State, Hon Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, on his victory.
The association in a press statement signed by its chairman, Tom Omeh, and public relations officer, Rob Ndu Ofoh, made available to newsmen in Enugu yesterday, said Ugwuanyi’s victory did not come to them as a surprise, going by the impressive infrastructural development by the PDP-led government in the state.
The organisation also applauded the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, security operatives, Governor Sullivan Chime, and the electorate for the peaceful conduct of the polls.
It, therefore, called on those who went into the contest with Ugwuanyi to imbibe the spirit of sportsmanship by conceding defeat and join hands with him in moving the state forward, rather than engaging in prolonged litigation that would do the state no good.
The group, however, attributed Ugwuanyi’s victory to the fact that the PDP had been on ground in Enugu State since 1999, and because of his overwhelming popularity in every segment of the state.
“As an experienced grassroots politician, we believe strongly that Ugwuanyi has all it takes to deliver,” the statement added.
While assuring the governor-elect of ERUPT’s unflinching support, it equally charged him to endeavour to come up with aggressive human oriented programmes and policies when he assumes office.
The statement read in part: “This is a well deserved victory, Enugu has always been a PDP state since 1999, and we have no doubt in our minds that the governor-elect will deliver the goods when assumed office.
“We to also use this medium to call on all stake holders to rally round Ugwuanyi so as to enable him consolidate on the achievements recorded by the outgoing governor, Sullivan Chime, who had really demonstrated that he is indeed a seasoned and trusted administrator.
“We wish to also congratulate all the PDP House of Assembly members- elect for their victory, as well as governor Chime, for creating an enabling environment in Enugu State, since he took over the mantle of leadership.”
Similarly, the governorship candidate of the Peoples for Democratic Change, PDC, Hon. KGB Oguakwa has congratulated Ugwuanyi for a well deserved victory.
