Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi led administration has indicated that they are poised to reposition primary education in Enugu State.
To this end, Enugu state executive council in its 11th meeting, yesterday, approved the procurement of N1.5 billion term loan facility for the provision of counterpart funds to enable the State Universal Basic Education Board, SUBEB, to access the world bank grants for the development of primary schools in the state.
The government said it is part of its drive to reposition primary schools in the state to meet the demands of the millennium.
In a press briefing at the end of the council’s meeting presided over by Governor Ugwuanyi at the Government House, Enugu, the state commissioner for information, Dr. Godwin Udeuhele, noted that the grant would enable government to renovate some primary schools in the state that are in dilapidated state, among others.
According to the commissioner, the council has also approved the award of contract for the construction of Ebonyi River at Ikem headquarters to a reputable company, COMAG Still Construction Company.
He added that when the bridge is completed it would be of immense benefit to the people traversing to neighbouring towns like Obollo Afor, Obollo Eke and to the northern part of Nigeria.
The commissioner said that the council in its drive to alleviate the people’s problem especially this festive period has approved award of contract for the construction of Orie-Emene, Adoration, Rehab Road to Nkwubo Road which will be of good help to the people of that area.
