Former Super Eagles captain, Vincent Enyeama has labelled William Troost-Ekong as the new rock in the Nigeria national team set-up.
Though he may no longer be with the Nigeria National Team, Enyeama is surely keeping tabs on happenings as it regards the Super Eagles and he was quick to bare his find when he got a birthday greeting from Ekong on Monday.
For many, Troost-Ekong who was born in the Netherlands to a Nigerian father, and Dutch mother has been a worthy addition to Nigeria football.
Having represented the Netherlands at U-19 and U-20 Youth levels, Troost-Ekong committed his international career to his father’s land and had never looked back since then.
He made his senior international debut for the Eagles in 2015 under the late Coach Stephen Keshi who will be fondly remembered for the new injections; especially from diaspora that he made into the Nigeria national team.
Fresh from the Rio Olympics where he was one of the very few players that played every minute and went on to win the Bronze medal, Troost-Ekong is expected to be at the heart of defense when Nigeria take on Tanzania in the dead rubber AFCON 2017 Qualifiers this weekend.
