Enyimba captain Chinedu Udoji has boasted his side will always win trophies ahead of the start of the 2016 Nigeria Professional Football League season.
The People’s Elephants begin their domestic title defence against Dolphins in Port Harcourt and he says they will be looking to defend their title in the new season.
“We are a team that usually wins trophies,” Udoji told Goal. “We have won trophies here at home and there probably isn’t anything for us to prove again.
“We have to go in again and defend the league title we won last season and also the Federation’s Cup that we lost last year,” he said.
Speaking further, the defender added that the major target remains to win the Caf Champions League but says that won’t distract them from retaining the league title.
“As much as our major target this season is to win the Champions League, we also have to defend the league title,” he continued.
“Enyimba is a big club and people expect a lot from us and we have to prove ourselves again because our name is at stake,” he added.
The two-time African champions began their CAF Champions League campaign with a 1-0 loss to Vipers of Uganda.
