Pioneer Director General of the Voice of Nigeria, VON, Alhaji Yaya Abubakar is dead.
He died at the age of 73 on Thursday following a brief illness at his hometown, in Bauchi State.
Alhaji Yaya Abubakar a veteran broadcaster, worked with the Radio, Television Kaduna before he moved to Nigeria Television Authority, NTA in the 1970s, the late Yaya Abubakar was the pioneer General Manager, NTA Bauchi.
The late broadcaster served as the Executive Director News NTA Lagos before he was appointed as the Director General, Voice of Nigeria, VON, where he served for two consecutive terms.
Alhaji Abubakar also served under the administration of Governor Abubakar Hashidu of Gombe state when he was appointed the first executive Chairman Gombe media Stations.
He has since buried according to Islamic rights.
