First phase generals in the Presidential Amnesty Programme have declared that the programme under Honourable Kingsley Kuku is a huge success and should be supported by all patriotic Nigerians.
Rising from its National Executive Council meeting held in Abuja, the ex-freedom fighters under the umbrella of Leadership, Peace and Cultural Development Initiative, LPCDI, said Hon. Kuku has done creditably well and deserved the commendation of all Nigerians especially all Niger Deltans in the management of the Presidential Amnesty Programme.
“Hon. Kuku has so far conducted the affairs of the amnesty office with the highest degree of intelligence, competence, integrity, efficiency, transparency and fairness to all,” they stressed, adding that recent sponsored negative criticism against him was uncalled for.
While declaring a vote of confidence on Hon. Kuku, they said as major stakeholders and beneficiaries of the amnesty programme, they were aware of its success story, warning that Niger Deltans should desist from pulling each other down for selfish reasons.
“We should always put the Niger Delta region first before our individual interests. We should not unwittingly contribute to the underdevelopment of our region by destroying each other for the sake of self aggrandisement,” they said, adding: “We must always know that we have formidable forces from outside our region who are bent on keeping us in perpetual political slavery and underdevelopment, who are very glad at our disunity and divisions.”
In a statement jointly signed by its National President, Pastor Reuben C. Wilson, Paul Eris, Ezekiel Akpasibewei, Henry Binidodogha, Alfred Darikoro, Opunama Andabofa and Osei Clever, and issued in Abuja yesterday, the First Phase Generals in the amnesty programme insisted that Hon. Kuku has demonstrated exemplary leadership in the successful management of the amnesty programme.
They said Hon. Kuku has been able to utilise the amnesty office to accelerate the much needed Human Capacity Development in the Niger Delta region, stressing that, “his achievements are eloquently evident for all to see.”
While making a case for the continuation of the programme, the generals said the Presidential amnesty Programme was the foundation on which the existing peace in the Niger Delta is anchored.
The group, while appealing to Niger Deltans desirous of getting political appointment from the APC Federal Government, not to pull down or denigrate others, urged the president-elect, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari to be wary of such characters.
“Such impostors cannot help the incoming administration to sustain the existing peace in the Niger Delta region,” they warned.
