CHIEF Rasheed Abiodun Gbadamosi, Nigeria’s former Minister of National Planning who died yesterday night after a protracted illness, will be buried today at his 72 Sule Oyesola Gbadamosi crescent, Oke-Ota Ona, Ikorodu, Lagos by 2pm. The former Chairman of Petroleum Products Price Regulation Agency, who has been criticising the leadership of President Muhammadu Buhari is an illustrious son Ikorodu area of Lagos State. Before his death yesterday, he was the co-chairman of Lagos @50 Organising Committee. Gbadamosi was appointed by the Lagos State Government to partner Nobel Laureate, Professor Wole Soyinka, the chairman of the committee. The appointment of the duo had generated controversy, with an umbrella association for indigenes, Eko Foundation, demanding Soyinka’s resignation for not being an indigene of Lagos State. Gbadamosi was reportedly ailing from stroke by the time he was appointed, though he attended the inauguration aided by walking stick. President of Eko Foundation, Professor Wole Smith confirmed the indisposition of Gbadamosi. The pressure group is agitating for his replacement with another illustrious indigene of the state and demanding that such person should lead the committee with Soyinka serving as the co-chairman and consultant.Chief (Dr.) Rasheed A. He served as Chairman of Nigerian Industrial Development Bank from 1986 to 1994 and Chairman of the Governing Council of Nigerian Institute of Social and Economic Research from 2001 to 2004. He was a Director of Fountain Trust Bank Plc and National Sports Lottery Plc. And as a Director of Cappa & D’alberto Plc. He was also a Director of Vono Products Plc. And Director at National Electric Power Authority from 1976 to 1979 and Member of Nigerian Debt Rescheduling Team since 1986. He served as Director of AIICO Insurance Plc since July 17, 1999 and served as Director of Musical Society of Nigeria (Muson), Nigeria Industrial Development Bank, commercial & scientific Computing Nigeria Ltd., Tolaram Clay Bricks (Nig) Ltd., Blackwood Hodge Nig. Plc and Cappa & Plc. His Qualifications include B.A. (Hons) in Economics, 1966; Diploma in Advanced Studies (Econ. Development) in 1967 from University of Manchester, England. Chief (Dr.) Gbadamosi holds an MA in Economics from the University of New Hampshire, USA (1969).
