Former Chairman, Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, Comrade Abdullahi Shehu has faulted Bauchi State Government over the suspension of the Rector, Abubakar Tatari Ali Polytechnic and the setting up a committee to recover lands, vehicles allocated to individuals by the immediate past administration.
Comrade Shehu while speaking to newsmen yesterday in Bauchi stated that the government did everything in a hurry without following due process.
He said everything that Government did is a policy and the way the transition committee were announcing Policy statement is not proper.
Shehu said the rector should have been queried before his suspension, and before a land was allocated to an individual they most follow procedures that included buying the form, paying taxes and every citizen is entitled to a plot of land and once it was allocated, you can’t revoke it but you can instead change it.
He pointed out that the recovery committee set up, looks like a military Tribunal when one look at the members of the committee headed by a retired Air Marshal with representative from Police,EFCC, and State Security Service, saying they will end up harassing people in their attempt to recover items.
He advised the Muhammad Abubakar led Government to receive transition committee reports first and set up a white paper committee of experts to examine the report before advising government properly on next line of action.
