Residents and stakeholders in Delta State have expressed hope and excited over the appointment of Professor Sylvester Monye, as a special adviser by Governor Ifeanyi Okowa.
Monye, an Economist served as Special Adviser on Monitoring and Evaluation to former President Goodluck Jonathan. He was also a governorship aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, for the 2015 governorship election in Delta State.
Governor Okowa, had on Friday at Asaba, shortly after the swearing in of the newly appointed Commissioners, also announced the appointment of Monye as a special adviser.
The stakeholders described the appointment as laudable, explaining that Monye, being an experienced and reputable Economist would contribute greatly to success of Okowa’s administration.
A chieftain of the PDP in the state who spoke in confidence to Nigerian Pilot yesterday said “as stakeholders in the state, we are very optimistic that the appointment of Monye as a special adviser would help the Okowa government greatly and it is a good development.
“Monye served as Special Adviser on Monitoring and Evaluation to former President Goodluck Jonathan effectively. He was one of the best advisers to Jonathan, so we are confident he would replicate same to Okowa”.
