An explosion yesterday rocked the ever busy Lagos-Ibadan expressway resulting in a heavy traffic gridlock leaving travellers to other parts of the country trapped for hours.
The explosion Nigerian Pilot Saturday learnt was caused by an outbreak of fire when a tanker loaded with highly inflammable substance collided with a trailer causing an inferno.
According to an eyewitness account, the incident happened at about 9am on Kilometre 48 to Ibadan city with three people injured.
However, reports from National Emergency Management agency said that there was no life lost in the fire explosion.
It said the intervention of fire service; FRSC and NEMA, brought the situation under control by preventing spillage into trapped smaller vehicles and facilitating unhindered movement for vehicles plying the route.
