  • Rivers REC, officials to be removed
  • Picks chairman for Bayelsa Election Tribunal

apcAs controversy continues to trail
the judgment of the Rivers State
Election Tribunal that nullified
the election of Governor Nyesom
Wike, details of the All Progressives
Congress, APC’s secret plan to
take over the state and other oil
producing states have emerged.
The opposition, Peoples
Democratic Party, PDP, had
earlier raised the alarm that forces
outside the tribunal influenced the
judgment of the Rivers Election
Tribunal.
Nigerian Pilot Sunday is in
custody of a confidential document
from the APC national secretariat,
captioned: “APC Political
Penetration, South-South/North
Central Strategic Plan” with details
of how the party plans to take over
the oil-rich states, especially Rivers
and Bayelsa States with the use of
federal might.
According to the 14-page
document, put together by a
five-man panel, the APC leaders
consider Rivers and Niger Delta
States “security risks” if allowed
to remain in the hands of the PDP
because of the enormous resources
in the states.
A perusal of the document
shows that the judgment of the
Rivers Election Tribunal is totally in
tandem with the recommendations
in the secret document, which was
compiled in August, four months
before the tribunal delivered its
judgment.
Pages nine to 14 of the secret
document gave details of the
meetings the panel had with
former Governor Rotimi Amaechi
and other stakeholder in Rivers
APC, and how the Rivers APC
leaders had insisted that the former
chairman of the tribunal, Justice
Mu’azu Pindiga, must be removed
and Wike’s election must be
nullified to compensate Amaechi
for the enormous resources he
invested in the APC’s campaign.
“The committee had extensive
deliberations with the former
governor of the state and campaign
DG, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Amaechi,
whose immense contribution
to the growth and performance
of our party cannot be over
emphasised. His individual
financial contribution to the party
helped deliver states like Benue,
Plateau, and Sokoto States.”
The document said, “Clearly,
the mood within the party in
Rivers State is that the April 2015
election in the state was daylight
robbery and should not be allowed
to stand. They overwhelmingly
submitted that the elections were
marred with irregularities and
violence and members of the APC
did not have the chance to cast their
ballots for President Muhammadu
Buhari, Hon. Dakuku Peterside,
candidates of the national assembly
and states assembly seats.
“The committee had closed
sessions with the party leadership
in the state and loudest concern
was their displeasure with the
constitution of the Rivers State
governorship election petition
tribunal.
“Hon. Chibuike Amaechi
stressed that he wasn’t optimistic
that the tribunal chairman would
listen to or sympathise with the
APC. He complained that the
Presidency had not made any
move to replace Justice Muazu
Pindiga.
“He told the committee that
he visited Lawal Kazaure in the
Villa and had briefed him of the
emerging scenarios at the tribunal.
Alhaji Abba Kyari had called that
same day to confirm that he had
briefed the President and had the
green light to reach out to PCA/
BAZ and JMP.
“He stated that Justice Pindiga
had already refused a key prayer
of the petitioner at the tribunal for
forensic investigation of the ballot
papers. He said he was not asking
for too much from the presidency.
“He state that he wasn’t asking
for the APC candidate to be
declared winner of the election, heonly wants the April election to be
cancelled and a rerun conducted.
“The committee asked the
stakeholders in Rivers state what
the electoral chances of the party
are like if the sought for rerun come
through.
“They were hopeful and
expressed optimism that though
the incumbent would be a tough
opponent, but they said that he
is beatable with some strategic
support from the Presidency.
“The party elders in the state are
not happy that their leader, Hon.
Amaechi was not appointed the
Secretary to the Government of the
Federation, Chairman of the Party
in the state, Davies Ikanya, was
honest with the committee during
the meeting that held in his party
secretariat in Port Harcourt.
The document revealed, “The
concerns of Rivers state were
discussed with Aliyu Bello Lawal
Kazaure and Abba Kyari. Abba
Kyari said the President was
hesitant about interfering in
election petition tribunal matters,
but mentioned that President
had mandated him to see into the
concerns of Amaechi.
“He assured the committee that
he would do all within his power
to address the injustice in Rivers
State. A meeting was fixed for
the September 26, 2015 in ASK’s
residence in Malali, Kaduna State
with some of the leaders of the
Rivers APC
