Chairman, Nigerian Labour Congress, NLC, in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, Comrade Paulinus Onyeadi has called on fathers to at all times give priority attention to the proper upbringing of their children and wards.
Comrade Onyeadi gave the charge yesterday in Abuja, during a chat with Nigerian Pilot to mark this year’s Fathers Day.
He noted that ‘‘well trained children are a major prerequisite for the future development of any nation.’’
In this vein, he said a father was expected to inculcate the fear of God in his children, besides, “fathers should spend quality time with their families,” noting that neglect of their families could have adverse consequences on the home and society in general.
Fathers Day is observed on the third Sunday of June to honour all fathers, grandfathers, great-grandfathers and father figures for their contributions to their families.
Meanwhile, the chairman has reiterated his determination to ensure that workers in the territory under his leadership were given adequate protection against anti labour practices.
According to Comrade Onyeadi, the “NLC will leave no stone unturned in its commitment to tackle unfavourable working condition which include causualisation of workers.”
