Supporters club of Nnewi-based FC Ifeanyi Ubah is optimistic that the club fondly called Anambra Warriors would pick a continental ticket at the end of 2016 football season.
The Anambra State chairman of the supporters club, Prince George Nnaemeka Iloka yesterday said that the supporters expect nothing less than a continental ticket and other trophies from the players and the technical crew, who according to him have fully been mobilised.
He pointed out that the club did not actually perform badly in the last season considering the fact that they were relatively young in the elite division of the nation’s football league as some clubs which are older in the terrain did not escape relegation waters.
“The eleventh position we occupied at the end of proceedings last season was not bad, but we expects an improved performance this season considering the fact the chairman, Chief Ifeanyi Ubah has brought in players from Brazil and Ghana as well as engaging the services of best legs in the country to be coached by a sound technical crew which is second to none in the nation’s professional league.”
Prince Iloka, who commended the club chairman, Chief Ifeanyi Ubah for the resuscitation of social life and bringing life back to football in Anambra State said that the people of the state are anxiously waiting for the league to kickoff so that they can troop out in their good numbers to enjoy top flight football, which they have been denied for nearly a decade due to absence of a professional side in the state.
“Many people are struggling to join the supporters club to give their support to the ‘Anambra Warriors’ and because of that, we have decided to organise the club on local government bases so that no one would be denied the privilege of supporting their dream team but then, we equally intend to screen every aspiring supporters to make sure that only,” he said.
Responding to a question on why many people are struggling to join the supporters club, Prince Iloka said that the rush has to do with the personality of the chairman and financier of the club who is reputed to doing things in a far different but better ways.
The state chairman of the IUFC supporters club however, noted that the club has put in place many goodies to make the membership worthwhile for the successfully admitted supporter of the Anambra Warriors.
