Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has fixed Wednesday, 13th April, for re-run in the affected polling units in four (4) Area Councils of Abuja Municipal Area Council, AMAC, Abaji, Gwagwalada andKuje.
The election was marred by irregularities and violence in the affected Area Councils, which made the Commission declare the results inconclusive. This is coming on the heels of recent inconclusive elections in Bayelsa and Rivers states respectively few months back.
Apart from the irregularities that marred the polls in the affected polling units in the councils, there was low turn- out of voters as there was voter apathy, many reasons were however deduced for the poor turn -out of voters, while some hinge it on the publicity of INEC, others felt the present administration has not justified their coming out to vote.
There have been accusations from the political parties, that it is an attempt to rig the polls in favour of the All Progressives Congress, APC, that led to the cancellation in some polling units.
However, many observers and political analyst are wondering what the conduct of elections will be in the future, especially in 2019 when the country will be conducting another general elections.
