Federal Capital Territory Administration, FCTA, has demanded for proactive measures from all security agencies, especially in harnessing the intelligence opportunity so as to avert any possible interruption of peace in the territory possibly by Boko Haram insurgents who have renewed their attack in recent past.
FCT Permanent Secretary, Engr. Obinna Chukwu gave the charge in Abuja yesterday when he played host to the new FCT Director of Department of Security Services, DSS, Mallam Bello Bakori who was on a familiarity visit.
He stressed the importance of the cooperation and information sharing among all the security agencies, considering the renewed insurgency attacks in some parts of the country, as well as ever increasing influx of people into the Territory in search of “greener pasture.”
According to him, “We want continued peace and stability in the entire 8,000 square kilometers of the Federal Capital Territory, because Abuja is a seat of government, and as such improved security structure is required.
Engr. Chukwu enjoined all the Heads of the security and anti graft agencies in FCT to bridge the gap between the staff of the FCT Administration and their respective organizations, explaining that, “we are all working for the government and for the common good of the people”.
Speaking earlier, the new Director, Department of State Security in FCT, Mallam Bakori said he offered to visit the Permanent Secretary with his management team in order to strengthen the existing relationship between the two bodies.
He assured the administration that his office would continue to provide quality intelligence to assist the FCT Administration in delivering good governance and improved security to the residents.
In his words, Mallam Bello said, “We will continue to strive to keep the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, free from any security breaches by providing the necessary intelligence”.
